Bevan Checks In from IM Busselton

Hi guys. Not my day today at Ironman Busselton…

Had a good swim and rode into the overall age group lead, putting minutes into the field very comfortably under AeT1 and low HR. I then hit a bump in the road at the 70km mark and clicked my hip out and pinched a nerve. This stopped me from using my right leg (20-30% max) for the next 70km. I mainly peddaled with one leg and stopped a few times to try to fix it as didn’t want to DNF. I finally got average at around the 140km mark and rode home moderately but conservatively. I was still on an OK time but felt unable to run with the hip. Rather than DNF, I walked home.

Not my day – the age group win and a Kona spot were there for the taking. Off now to get a CT-US and a cortisone shot into the hip.

The Race Shorts and Tri Jersey were fantastic. Thanks for your help and support!

Cheers bevan.
